> Economy likely to pick up in 2nd half, says card giant

BANGKOK, June 25 (TNA) – Thailand’s economy is projected to pick up in the second half of this year, in response to the government’s additional measures to stimulate the economy, according to a credit card giant.

Niwatt Chittalarn, president and chief executive officer of Krungthai Card (KTC), said he believes the Thai economy will gradually recover in the rest of the year, bolstered by the government’s issuance of additional economic stimulus measures.

He conceded, however, that partial payments by credit card holders and missed payments had increased slightly during the current economic slowdown.

Additionally, the number of new KTC card holders this year will decline since the screening of new customers is more strict.

Simultaneously, KTC joined with Thai Airway International to launch the “Exchange One, Fly Two” campaign aimed at holders of Royal Orchid Plus KTC cards.

Under the campaign, the card holders could redeem points for one THAI ticket for two passengers made available for every routes of the national carrier.
